for the second consecutive year in the state Division I cross country championships at Woodward Park Woodward Park (34 acres) is a public park, botanical garden, and arboretum located between 21st Street and 24th Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. It is open to the public daily.  in Fresno on Saturday.

The Hoover High junior was a surprising fourth in 1998 but will be an overwhelming favorite in the 11:45 a.m race.

``Last year, I did not know what to expect,'' Siraki said. ``This year, I know where I am compared to everybody.''

Siraki established herself among the state's elite of all-time in the Southern Section Division I finals last Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College Mt. San Antonio College (commonly called Mt. SAC; pronounced as the word "sack") is a community college located in the Los Angeles suburb of Walnut, California, next to California State Polytechnic University, Pomona which is just over a hill.

Siraki became one of only three runners to break 17 minutes on the benchmark course along with former national champions Julia Stamps of Santa Rosa Santa Rosa, city, Argentina

Stamps, the three-time state Division I champion and now a Stanford junior, set the state meet record of 16:43 in 1996 on the 5,000-meter Woodward Park course and holds the second and third-fastest championship times of 16:45 and 17:06.

Based upon her performance at Mt. SAC, Siraki appears capable of challenging Stamps' marks. Siraki, however, said her main focus will be on a state title, not time. Siraki, who ran 18:17 in the 1998 state meet, is planning for a mark in the low 17-minute range.

Latesha Jones of Rialto Rialto, city (1990 pop. 72,388), San Bernardino co., S Calif., a residential suburb of San Bernardino; inc. 1911. ``It would be nice to have someone to run with,'' Siraki said. ``I am going to run by feel and I have been feeling really good.''

Viewpoint junior Tom Kubler and the Flintridge Prep boys will be after titles in Division V. Kubler finished second in 1998 and is coming off a victory in the Southern Section championships.

Flintridge Prep coach Ingrid Herskind became the first woman to lead a boys' state title last year. The Rebels are favored to defend its state title with a solid pack led by seniors Imran Ahmad and Steve McQuaide and juniors Ian Pocock, West Vane Vane , John Robert 1927-2004.

 and Steve Pearson.

Bei, a two-time state champion, is favored in girls' Division II with a duel between Ventura County champion Laura Jakosky of Agoura and Amber Steen of Newport Harbor for second. Steen edged Jakosky at the wire in the Southern Section finals.

The Division IV boys' competition figures to be a battle between six-time state champion McFarland, Nordhoff and Oak Park. The Central Section champions defeated Oak park and Nordhoff to win the Division IV team sweepstakes in the Mt. SAC invitational in October.

Oak Park, paced by 1998 state runner-up Mark Nevers along with Erik Wackenstedt and Chase Ferrell, defeated Nordhoff in the Mt. SAC and Ventura County championships. The Rangers, however, rebounded to defeat the Eagles at the Southern Section championships.

The La Canada and Louisville girls are contenders for a top-three finish in Divisions III and IV. La Canada, the 1998 state champion, started slowly but came on strong to finish second in the Southern Section finals.

La Canada junior Nicole Bonino finished fifth in the 1998 state meet. Senior Christina Ellis, juniors Emily Weightman and Becky Zentmyer and sophomore Carina Carina (kərē`nə) [Lat.,=the keel], southern constellation, representing the keel of the ancient constellation Argo Navis, or Ship of the Argonauts.
