CROSS COUNTRY: SPERRY MAKES MARK SIMI VALLEY SENIOR RUNS FOURTH FASTEST TIME IN MEET HISTORY.

 at Griffith Park Griffith Park is a large public park at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains. It is situated in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Sperry, a fifth-place finisher last week in the Woodbridge Invitational girls' sweepstakes race in Irvine, dropped 29 seconds off her 2005 meet-best clocking of 17 minutes, 17 seconds on the hilly 2.9-mile layout, but wound up finishing second in the girls' Div. I race.

Sperry's mark of 16:48 was the fourth-best time in meet history, 17 seconds off the record set in 2000 by North Hollywood's Natalie Stein.

Oakwood of North Hollywood junior Aric Van Halen (15:18) won the boys' Div. V race. Highland of Palmdale junior Jeremy Acosta (14:39) placed second in Div. I.

Highland's girls' team, led by Caitlin Fitzgerald (17:48), won the Div. I championship and Simi Valley took second.

Bell-Jeff won the Div. V girls' team title, with Gabrielle Gonzalez (19:14) capturing the individual crown. Notre Dame Notre Dame IPA: [nɔtʁ dam] is French for Our Lady, referring to the Virgin Mary. In the United States of America, Notre Dame  of Sherman Oaks' Charles Maginnis (15:06) was second in the Div. IV boys' race.
