WALNUT -- It was just a matter of time before the Saugus girls' cross country team unveiled its complete arsenal.

Saugus showcased its weapons on the second day of the 60th annual Mt. San Antonio College Mt. San Antonio College (commonly called Mt. The Centurions combined for a team time of 89 minutes, 34 seconds in the girls' Div. I and II Super Sweepstakes race to break the meet's all-time best record (91:21 in 2002 by Sultana) and the all-time top CIF mark set by Corona Del Mar Del Mar is the name of several places in the United States of America:

Each of Saugus' top six runners finished under the 19-minute mark on a day that featured the girls' fourth-fastest course time, and Highland of Palmdale's Jeremy Acosta falling a second short of taking the boys' Super Sweepstakes race.

Despite not having a runner finish in the top five, Katie Dunn (17:27) and Kaylin Mahoney (17:31) finishing eighth and ninth, combined with Nina Moore (17:59), Brianna Jauregui (18:18), Amber Murakami (18:19) and Anne Randall Anne Randall (born Barbara Burrus 23 September 1944 in Alameda, California) is an American model of Irish, Yugoslavian and Cherokee ancestry. "I was thinking don't run hard," said Dunn, who was part of the pack chasing Mission College Prep of San Luis San Luis, city (1991 pop. 110,353), capital of San Luis prov., W central Argentina. Hasay finished in 16:42, the No. 4 girls' time in course history.

Dunn added: "We knew that was going to happen. We knew Jordan was in the race. We were told to stay close as possible but don't let them get 20, 30 meters ahead."

Saugus (62 points) shaved off four minutes from last year's team time to repeat as Sweepstakes champion. Torrey Pines of San Diego -- last year's Div. I state runner-up -- had the next-best time of 91:59.

Is this the team Paragas will have ready to defend the Centurions' state Div. I title at the championships in Fresno?

"There's a couple girls who ran real fast in the JV race, so I'd have to look at the times, but that was our 'A' team," Paragas said. "It could change, but if I had to say today, that's it."

The Centurions also took the Junior Varsity National Championship with a team time of 95:37. That's almost two minutes better than Corona Del Mar's varsity outing at Friday's Div.III team sweepstakes.

Crescenta Valley of La Crescenta placed 11th in Saturday's Sweepstakes race with 246 points.

"It was a tough race, I don't feel so good right now," said Crescenta Valley's Claire Collison, who placed fifth with a 17:19. "I was a wimp, I had to step it up a notch, but I did a good job, no regrets."

Highland's Acosta regrets not running a bit harder during the first mile of the boys' race. It perhaps proved costly at the end with Acosta placing second with a personal-best course time of 14:58, a second slower than winner Jim Walmsley of Horizon High of Scottsdale, Ariz.

"(Alisal's) Diego (Estrada) told me at one point during the race, 'You need to catch that Arizona dude, represent California,'" Acosta said. "We pushed each other at the reservoir part of the race but missed (Walmsley) by a couple of seconds at the end."

Crescenta Valley's Zack Torres placed fourth with a time of 15:28 to help the Falcons (78:55) to a fourth-place team finish with 175 points.

Loyola of Los Angeles (78:59) took third with 161 points behind Murrieta Valley (103 points) and Vista Murrieta (148 points).

Three-time Mt. SAC defending champion Royal (79:31) took ninth with 196 points.
