The Oak Park High boys' cross country team will have to wait until the State meet for another shot at top-ranked McFarland.

The Eagles, however, continued its remarkable rise among the state's elite in the Division IV sweepstakes in the Mt. San Antonio College Mt. San Antonio College (commonly called Mt. SAC; pronounced as the word "sack") is a community college located in the Los Angeles suburb of Walnut, California, next to California State Polytechnic University, Pomona which is just over a hill.

Junior Mark Nevers, runner-up in the 1998 state Division IV final, was fourth in a personal-best 15:31. Teammates Erik Wackenstedt and Ben Saxey were 14th and 16th in 16:06 and 16:17.

Sophomores Chase Ferrell and Taylor Hermes, 33rd and 35th in 16:46 and 16:49, may be the determining factor in next month's state meet. Ferrell cut more than a minute off his best from the 1998 section finals and Hermes ran only 20:08 at Mt. SAC as a freshman.
