The return of defending league champion Shell Blevins, however, could give Quartz Hill the edge. Blevins, a junior, has not run in any league meets because of illness this season. Blevins said she still is not at full strength and is not expected to challenge Kirkendall, a state track meet qualifier qual·i·fi·er n. 1. One that qualifies, especially one that has or fulfills all appropriate qualifications, as for a position, office, or task. 2. at 1,600 meters, for the individual title. Still, Blevins should have a major impact in the team scoring along with the emergence of her sister Laura, a former swimmer who was the Rebels' No. 1 runner in the second league meet.
