Lancaster, however, rebounded to dominate the second league meet behind David Sauer, Joe Gocong and Ryan Rogers. The Lancaster girls, lifted by Kirkendall's individual victory as well as strong showings by Gidget Vaughn, Meiling Cabral and Dedra Johnson, surprised league meet No. 1 winner Quartz Hill to win the second meet. The return of defending league champion Shell Blevins, however, could give Quartz Hill the edge. Blevins, a junior, has not run in any league meets because of illness this season. In the boys' competition, Bauder will be attempting to continue a Palmdale legacy of individual champions. Bauder, a junior who was only the Falcons' No. 5 runner as a sophomore, can become Palmdale's ninth champion in 10 years with a victory on his home course today.
