CROSS COUNTRY: GLENDALE TAKES STATE JC MEET.

The Glendale College men's cross country team had the last word against Moorpark College Moorpark College is a California-state funded community college located on a 134 acre (542,000 m²) property reclining on a hill in Moorpark, a town in Ventura County, California.  in the State Junior College Championships at Woodward Park Woodward Park (34 acres) is a public park, botanical garden, and arboretum located between 21st Street and 24th Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. Upset by remarks made by Moorpark runners after Moorpark won the Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  championships, Glendale rebounded from a disappointing fifth-place showing at the Nov. 7 competition to win its second state title in four years.

. Rafael Ramos (21:27), Juan Fernandez (21:28) and Jorge Lopez (21:31) were 32nd, 33rd and 38th for a time gap of only 28 seconds between its five scoring runners.

``A lot of people wrote us off because we ran so bad at the Southern California finals,'' Glendale coach Eddie Lopez said. ``It was the best thing that could have happened. It brought us down to reality. Those comments helped a lot, too.''

Glendale defeated Moorpark in all three conference meets this season en route to its ninth conference title in 12 years. But the Raiders, boosted by Disney's individual victory in the Southern California championships, turned the tables on the Vaqueros to win the regional title for the second year in a row.

In the Southern California championships, Moorpark placed five runners ahead of WSC champion Merino, who finished as the Vaqueros' No. 3 man, to beat Glendale by 82 points. Disney and Coronado called the triumph the first of a ``two-meet season'' for Moorpark.

Glendale was out to prove Disney wrong in the state meet.

``We ran poorly in the other meet, but it was no big thing,'' freshman Jorge Lopez said. ``It was good we didn't win because we would have been overconfident o·ver·con·fi·dent

She is a member of the American Theatre Hall of Fame.  of Glendale was the top runner from Southern California in the state meet, finishing fourth in a career-best 18:37 over the 5,000-meter course.
