Carr, who is currently acting as an adviser to London and British football club champions Tir Chonaill Gaels The Tir Chonaill Gaels GFC club was formed in London in 1962 by predominantly Donegal men. The first ever meeting took place in the Red Lion pub in Kilburn and was chaired by Jackie Reilly. , will take up his new post immediately.

"Paddy's family lived in Cabinteely and he went to school in Oatlands College, so it was only natural that he should join Kilmacud Crokes," said the source.

"He had a long involvement with the club up to the time he left Dublin in the late '70s, and his brother Sean was playing football with Kilmacud up to a few years ago.
