Byline: Alex Dobuzinskis Staff Writer

BURBANK - Critics of a plan to build a facility for day laborers next to a proposed Home Depot The Home Depot (NYSE: HD) is an American retailer of home improvement and construction products and services.

Headquartered in Vinings, just outside Atlanta in unincorporated Cobb County, Georgia, Home Depot employs more than 355,000 people and operates 2,164 big-box
store asked the City Council on Tuesday not to build the facility because it would help illegal immigrants.

Last month the council approved an agreement with Home Depot that would have the company pay $94,000 a year to underwrite the maintenance and operation of a facility for day laborers at the store.

Two Burbank residents appealed the decision.

If the City Council approves its construction, the Home Depot will be built on an 11-acre lot at 1200 S. Flower St.

Other Home Depot stores in the Southland have day laborer facilities nearby. But the company is careful to maintain that it does not own or operate the facilities.
