CRITICS CLAIM INCIDENT PROVES ROCKETDYNE CLEANUP UNRELIABLE.

Byline: Christopher Noxon Daily News Staff Writer

Members of a panel charged with monitoring the cleanup of Rocketdyne's Santa Susana Santa Susana can refer to several places:
  • The Santa Susana Mountains in southern California
  • Santa Susana Pass, running through the abovementioned mountains
  • Santa Susana Field Laboratory, near Los Angeles, a test facility for rockets and (formerly) nuclear reactors
Field Laboratory faced off with company officials and state regulators Wednesday over accusations that a contractor hired for the job has a record of fabricating results.

At the quarterly meeting of the Rocketdyne Cleanup Coalition, company officials said they have fired Transglobal Environmental Geochemistry geochemistry, study of the chemical changes on the earth. More specifically, it is the study of the absolute and relative abundances of chemical elements in the minerals, soils, ores, rocks, water, and atmosphere of the earth and the distribution and movement of , a subcontractor One who takes a portion of a contract from the principal contractor or from another subcontractor.

When an individual or a company is involved in a large-scale project, a contractor is often hired to see that the work is done.

Rocketdyne officials said they terminated TEG's services last week after the release of a memo from state regulators that said the company co-owner admitted fabricating instrument inspections during a 1995 test operation in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. , said Rocketdyne project leader Art Lennox.

To critics of the cleanup operation, the charge that scientists had once falsified their results is proof that the company responsible for contamination should not be trusted with the cleanup.
