CRITIC'S CHOICE; Antoine's funny old world.

Eurotrash

Ch4, 10.30pm ANTOINE DE CAUNES Antoine de Caunes (born 1 December 1953 in Paris, France) is a television comedian, actor and writer. He is the son of two French personalities, television journalist George de Caunes and television announcer Jacqueline Joubert. He is the father of the actress Emma de Caunes.  returns with another fortifying cocktail of Euro entertainment.

Eurotrash goes on the piste piste

for the first World Blonde Ski Championships in Austria.

And if you think that sounds crazy then keep watching as later on in the series Eurotrash travels to Finland for the Snowball Throwing World Championships.

This week the programme also finds out about Uranus.

Shot on location at NASA's Kennedy Space Centre, it is probably the most expensive erotic film ever made and also features the first sex scene performed in zero gravity.

We also meet Pa Do Do, two of Hungary's biggest female pop stars and children's entertainers, weighing in at 18 stone each.

and skinhead haircuts have turned them into gay icons.

As if this wasn't enough there is the regular slot from the Amazing Randy, an Austrian magician whose magic wand is his penis, plus the usual report from Swedish Playmate Victoria Silvstedt.

Antoine has been taking time out from Eurotrash to star in A Man Is A Woman - sporting a beard and a clarinet as Simon, a gay lapsed Jew who is offered a fortune by his rich uncle to marry and carry on the family name. Simon agrees to wed Rosalie (Elsa Zylberstein), an orthodox Kletzmer singer and virgin.

The fact that she has never had a man - and he has never had a woman - gives some clue to the sort of farce the film descends into.

The posters for this film caused a bit of a stir when they were plastered all over the Paris metro.

They feature his bare bottom and his co-star Elsa Zylberstein (his girlfriend) appears to kneel before him for an inspection of his private parts.

"It's a very black comedy," says De Caunes. "I don't much care for the romantic hero image.

"I prefer to play roles which are the reverse of my nature. On the first reading of the script, I felt great affinity with the character of Simon and his out of sync way of existing in the world. I found him tender, funny, manipulative and magical."

Sounds a far cry from the cheeky Eurotrash host.

Something For The Weekend

Ch4, 11.05pm

THIS show continues to dazzle with its potent mix of games, jaw-dropping surprises, and tricky questions - all held together by the outrageous Denise Van Outen Denise van Outen (born May 27 1974, Basildon, Essex, England, UK) is a British television host and stage actress. Her most notable roles to date were as a presenter on The Big Breakfast, and as Roxie Hart in Chicago on both the West End and on Broadway. .

The show which sparked criticism over its saucy innuendos when it first was shown in autumn last year, is set to be toned down when an Australian version is filmed this summer.

But the British version of Something For The Weekend remains as naughty as ever, with the one- time Big Breakfast hostess at its helm.

Chewin' The Fat Chewin' the Fat is a Scottish comedy sketch show, starring Ford Kiernan, Greg Hemphill and Karen Dunbar. Comedians Paul Riley and Mark Cox also appeared regularly on the show.

THE deep-sea fishermen with the dirtiest line in tackle roll out as part of the line-up of regular and weird and wonderful one-off characters from the latest Chewin' The Fat.

Closer to home in all senses of the word is Harry the husband, who is forever criticising his wife, Linda. His pal George, on the other hand, can do no wrong in Harry's eyes.

This week tensions simmer over a game of Monopoly.

He says: "I don't think Harry is a particularly Scottish creation, there are Harrys everywhere."

Chewin' The Fat has become one of the biggest TV success stories in recent years, with the whole of Scotland becoming hooked on catchphrases such as "Gonnie no dae that".

Now the team are hoping to repeat the Chewin' The Fat phenomenon they have enjoyed in Scotland south of the border.

As usual, Ford is partnered throughout the comedy sketch show by his professional other half, Greg Hemphill, with support from Karen Dunbar, who also makes an appearance in tonight's show as Betty, the hilarious pensioner with the x-rated war memories.
