CRIT-O-MATIC.

Byline: - David Kronke

MARRIED TO THE KELLYS Married to the Kellys is a short-lived ABC sitcom, which was set in a suburb of Kansas City and featured Breckin Meyer and Kiele Sanchez. It aired from 2003 to 2004 with a run of 22 episodes.  - One star

Logline: New York writer Tom (Breckin Meyer) moves to Kansas with wife Susan (Kiele Sanchez), where he discovers her family (Nancy Lenehan, Sam Anderson, Josh Braaten, Emily Rutherfurd and Derek Waters) are a bunch of clinging Midwestern hicks. Jokes revolve around shucking corn and grilled pork steaks and the fact that Midwesterners aren't particularly familiar with Jewish people and pray before meals and have lame senses of humor and, well, are kind of dumb.

Noteworthy performances: As Susan's mousy mous·y also mous·ey

and stupid brother, Waters is a combination of Beavis, Butt-head and Christopher Walken in ``Annie Hall.'' Sanchez squints and grins queasily through it all; everyone else plays rote stereotypes.

Originality: Two stars

Credibility: One star

Inadvertent laughs: The very idea that these plots are still being used in sitcoms. In a future episode, Tom and Susan try to fool the family as to their handiness around the house to impress them, with decidedly mild repercussions repercussions nplrépercussions fpl

Opine biosynthesis is catalyzed by specific enzymes encoded by genes contained in a small segment of DNA (known as the T-DNA, for 'transfer DNA')  - so why did she uproot Tom to move back?

Who should get a raise: Creator Tom Hertz's relatives have started writing TV critics insisting they don't find the show condescending or insulting to Midwesterners. Nice that they stick up for him, even if they aren't on the payroll.

In a nutshell: Hertz's relatives may not find it insulting, but viewers quite likely will. Not to mention relentlessly unfunny.
