Pros: A keen idea with an intriguing structure: Each episode covers a year in the life A Year in the Life was a one hour dramatic series which ran on NBC during the 1987-1988 television season. The series actually began as a three-part miniseries which was first broadcast in December 1986. of the group, leading to the answer, who killed who? Things start poorly for our gang, and it's only bound to get worse, so it makes sense that someone's going to be killing someone before it's over. Cons: As clever as the premise is, the dialogue, melodrama and performances are equally hokey hok·ey adj. hok·i·er, hok·i·est Slang 1. Mawkishly sentimental; corny. 2. Noticeably contrived; artificial. hok . And the pop-culture references are relentless and gimmicky (some aren't even timely - Bonnie Tyler's ``Total Eclipse of the Heart'' was released in 1983, not '86). ``Mark my words,'' MIT-bound Aaron declares fatuously fat·u·ous adj. 1. Vacuously, smugly, and unconsciously foolish. See Synonyms at foolish. 2. Delusive; unreal: fatuous hopes. as ``Wake Me Up Before You Go Go'' plays in the background, ``Wham! is the next Beatles.'' In a nutshell: And, by that way of thinking, ``Reunion'' will be the next ``Six Feet Under.'' But those addicted to the cheesily lurid angst of ``The O.C.'' (which precedes this) are likely to forgive anything, though the chemistry between the performers isn't quite as strong here.
