CRIT-O-MATIC TV REVIEW.

Byline: David Kronke

``Reunion''

(Fox Channel 11; 9 tonight)

Logline: After a brutal murder, we must go back 20 years to unlock the mystery of what happened among a group of tight high-school friends: pampered pam·per
tr.v. pam·pered, pam·per·ing, pam·pers
1. To treat with excessive indulgence: pampered their child.

Pros: A keen idea with an intriguing structure: Each episode covers a year in the life A Year in the Life was a one hour dramatic series which ran on NBC during the 1987-1988 television season.

The series actually began as a three-part miniseries which was first broadcast in December 1986.

Cons: As clever as the premise is, the dialogue, melodrama and performances are equally hokey hok·ey

1. Mawkishly sentimental; corny.

2. Noticeably contrived; artificial.

2. Delusive; unreal: fatuous hopes.
as ``Wake Me Up Before You Go Go'' plays in the background, ``Wham! is the next Beatles.''

In a nutshell: And, by that way of thinking, ``Reunion'' will be the next ``Six Feet Under.'' But those addicted to the cheesily lurid angst of ``The O.C.'' (which precedes this) are likely to forgive anything, though the chemistry between the performers isn't quite as strong here.

Our rating: Two and one half stars
