Logline: FBI Special Agent Don Eppes Don Eppes is one of the two main fictional characters in the television show Numb3rs. He is played by Rob Morrow.

Don is an FBI Special Agent who recruits his mathematical genius brother, Charlie Eppes, to help him and the Bureau solve some of their most difficult cases.

Early life
Krumholtz was born in Queens, New York to Judy, a dental assistant, and Michael Krumholtz, a postal worker.
), to employ probability and physics and other things most of us don't understand to solve crimes perpetrated by masterminds and psychos. Tonight, the requisite serial-rapist story line.

Pros: Krumholtz, distracted and jittery, makes for an intriguingly unlikely action (or inaction?) hero. The investigation is serviceably if not memorably rendered.

Cons: Looovve the crime shows that debut with investigations of brutal rapes, exposing a murdered victim's bare body parts in tastelessly titillating tit·il·late

 quick edits (unfortunate for West Coast families seeing the show early) - such a cynical way to grab viewers' attention. Montages where Krumholtz jots out his math problems, to the requisite pop music and computer-enhanced graphics, aren't terribly persuasive as to their cool factor, and the science feels vague and arbitrary. Judd Hirsch Judd Hirsch (born March 15, 1935) is an American Academy Award-nominated, Emmy-winning actor, known for playing the character Alex Reiger on the acclaimed television comedy series Taxi.  is inexplicably wasted as the guys' dad.

In a nutshell: ``Everything is numbers,'' Charlie says. Particularly in TV, where this drama's inability to stand out from the glut of crime procedurals won't help its numbers.

Our rating: Two and one half stars
