CRIME PREVENTION EXPERT TO SPEAK.

PALMDALE -- A city official will be among featured speakers at a prestigious national crime-prevention conference later this month in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States. .

Crime Prevention Specialist Lisa Scales will discuss the city's Crime Prevention Through Innovative Design program at the National Institute of Crime Prevention Conference at the Riviera Hotel and Casino.

"It's an honor to represent our city and our state," Scales said. "I think it's great when another agency wants to know about your program."

Scales said Palmdale's program is unique because it incorporates three core principles -- territoriality Territoriality

She said the city has added two additional planning principles: requiring developers to provide maintenance and operational security procedures.

The program applies to housing and business developments, Scales said.
