CRICKET: Saints sunk as leaders prove point.

USK beat St Fagans by 16 runs to stay on top of the Premier Division Second XI table.

Anu Mohindru got 68 and Dan Wilde 49 in Usk's 222 for six and Neil Perrett (three for 40) and Ian Watkins (three for 47) did the damage with the ball.

For St Fagans, Joe Parker took three for 43 and Sam Wallwork scored 48.

Abergavenny won at Pentyrch by eight wickets, with Ryland Wallace scoring 61 not out and Sudbrook bounced back from losing their unbeaten record last week to thrash Panteg by eight wickets.

Ali Najmi made 60 for Miskin Manor, but visitors Penarth took the honours thanks to 71 not out by Neil Stephens.

Chepstow won convincingly at Llanarth to remain clear at the top of the Division One Second XI table from Bridgend, who were easy winners at Malpas.

Dominic Mabbs (four for 51) and Bradley Wadlum (five for 51) got Malpas out for 139, leaving youngsters Ross Stenner (63 not out) and Chad Bushell (31 not out) to do the rest. Newport Fugitives lost to Tondu at High Cross, although Steve Durston and Mike Lewis both scored 30.

Pontypridd recovered from 44 for three to make 153 for three, thanks to Darren Owen (68 not out) and John MacDonald (38 not out), before beating Croesyceiliog.

Nathan Skoines (three for 15) and Nic Miles (three for 12) did the damage for Tondu with the ball, and Matt Close (46) and Huw Kinsella (38 not out) got the runs required.

Radyr and Sully had a cracking game at Station Road, with the visitors winning it by seven wickets.

Oliver Griffiths (48), Nick O'Neal (39), Tim Phillips (37) Tom Stancombe (34) and Dave Arnold (25) got runs for Radyr with Ian Thickpenny taking four for 45 for Sully. Sean Davies (84), Don Sylvester (68 not out) and Thickpenny (44) saw Sully home.

Rogerstone Seconds, like their first team, have a 100 per cent record in the Division Two Second XI League and it was never seriously threatened at Cefn Fforest thanks to the bowling of Ian Jarrett (three for 37) and Phil Bateman (three for 14).

But Blackwood are also unbeaten after Carl Gwilt (three for 16) and Richard Matthews (three for 10) bowled them to victory over Pontymister.

Hoovers came off the bottom of the table by beating Ebbw Vale and Porth & Ton Pentre accounted for Barry by two runs in yet another close finish while Brecon easily accounted for visitors Ponthir.
