Old Xaverians fell by three runs in a thriller against Nalgo. They needed a four off the last ball but lost their last wicket. Tony Doyle made 48 for Xavs and Lance Mulholland hit a half century for the winners.

The Manweb v Moorfield match was put back a week but the delayed second round tie between Wavertree and Telco Whitefield went ahead with Wavertree winning by 108 runs.

Nasir Khan scored 71 and took 3- 11. Ian Jennions finished with 3-16.

Parkfield Liscard got the better of Parkonians in a Cheshire Shield second round match. Grant Hughes hit 79 as Parkfield reached 227- 8. They then dismissed Parks for 137 withMark Warrington claiming 3-20. Best bowlers for the losers were Andy Moxley 3-43 and Chris Hitchell 3-49.

The quarter-finals of the Lever Cup are due to be played this evening and the matches are:Birkenhead St Mary's v Wavertree,Mossley Hill v Moorfield,Cheshire Lines v Sutton,Manweb v Rainhill.

Meanwhile,Prescot & Odyssey are celebrating 150 years with a special cricket week. It began with a match against a select XI from Halifax where Prescot tour annually on Sunday followed by a game last night against St Helens St Helens may refer to:
