ENGLAND'S selectors today gave a major vote of confidence to the squad who competed impressively in India by making only two changes to the party who will contest a three-Test series in New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. , neither of whom played a full match in India, lost their places to accommodate the return of Andrew Caddick Andrew ("Andy") Richard Caddick (born 21 November 1968) is a domestic and former international fast-medium bowler. At 6"6, Caddick was a successful bowler in England for over a decade, taking thirteen 5-wicket hauls in test matches, and playing for Somerset County Cricket Club for  and Andrew Flintoff for the seamer-friendly pitches expected in New Zealand.

Flintoff was not in the original squad for the India tour but was drafted in as cover because of doubts over the fitness of Craig White. It means the selectors have given their full backing to the inexperienced squad who lost 1-0 on the sub-continent before Christmas and leaves no place for Glamorgan off-spinner

"Andrew Flintoff made a significant impact with the ball on the sub- continent and he thoroughly deserves to retain his place in the squad and Andrew Caddick is a high-class bowler of proven pedigree at Test level."

Caddick will strengthen England's seam resources and supplement the encouraging performances of Flintoff and Matthew Hoggard with the new ball in India while Coventry-born James Ormond retains his place provided he passes a fitness test on a shoulder injury.
