CREW kicks off "headliner series". (Transcripts).


CREW*NY (Commercial Real Estate Women of New York), in association with the New York University New York University, mainly in New York City; coeducational; chartered 1831, opened 1832 as the Univ. of the City of New York, renamed 1896. It comprises 13 schools and colleges, maintaining 4 main centers (including the Medical Center) in the city, as well as the  Real Estate Institute, has announced dates for the second annual CREW*NY Headliner Series of lectures. Six leading women real estate executives, from among the most influential real estate firms, will provide first-hand perspectives on key issues and trends currently affecting the real estate industry. The series, moderated by Veronica W. Hackett, principal of The Clarett Group and Caroline Harcourt, Esq., partner, Pillsbury Winthrop, will include:

* April 4, Katherine G. Farley, senior managing director, Tishman Speyer Properties Tishman Speyer Properties is a leading real estate building and operating company set up in 1978 by two founding partners, Jerry Speyer and Robert Tishman. Overview  (TSP), "The Challenge of Development in a Foreign Country." Farley has been responsible for TSP's international expansion, first in China, then Europe, and now Latin America. TSP has had a history of success, having acquired or developed a portfolio of over 53 million SF; to create a portfolio valued at $10 billion today. The company now operates from its headquarters in New York and from eighteen TSP offices worldwide and is one of the few property companies to have active development organizations and investments outside of the U.S.

Minieri and Gilmartin will discuss these challenges against the back-drop of the Renzo Piano-designed New York Times headquarters project, which will be built for The Times by Forest City in the historic Times Square district. The conversation will be chaired by Caroline Harcourt, Esq., CREW*NY president and a Partner in the law firm of Pillsbury Winthrop.

* April 18, Jin Lee, SVP, GE Capital Real Estate, "Issues and Trends in the Capital Markets." Lee will lead an all-star panel to include: Jeremy Fitzgerald, managing director of Capital Trust, Inc.; Meggan Walsh, managing director, Bayerische Hypo-und Vereinsbank; and Katherine Gnapp, managing director, Banc of America Securities.

* April 25, Sherida Paulsen, chairwoman, New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission is the New York City agency charged with administering New York's Landmarks Preservation Law.

New York City's first landmarks legislation was enacted in 1965, prompted by the demolition of the original Pennsylvania Station,

* May 2, Leslie Wohlman Himmel, Founding Partner, Himmel + Meringoff. "Creating Value in B-Class Office Buildings." Himmel is the ranking female landlord in Manhattan's commercial property market. Named by Crain's NY Business as one of the 100 most influential women in New York City, Himmel resides over two million SF of space in Class B office buildings.
