 Lear jet flying out of Edwards Air Force Base was heavily damaged during a landing at the former George Air Force Base, NASA officials said Thursday.

The incident occurred at 11:50 a.m. Thursday at the Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  Logistics Base near Victorville. The aircraft was performing a touch-and-go maneuver when it was damaged after contacting and then running off the runway runway: see airport. .

The aircraft had a two-man crew and was carrying an Air Force Academy cadet undergoing flight surgeon training.

An interim investigation team has been formed to determine the cause of the incident.
