Residents' groups worked with 40 shipmates Shipmates was an American syndicated television show that ran for two seasons from 2001 - 2003. Reruns later ran on the cable channel Spike TV. Now work can go ahead to create a barn and pens with sheep, goats and pigs which are due in summer. The Royal Navy crew cleared scrub from fields which will be used to graze the farm animals. The team will also help to clean and paint benches in Leazes Park, Newcastle. Cmdr Giulian Hill, senior commanding officer of HMS Dauntless, said: "The visit to Newcastle is a key event in our calendar." Type-45 destroyer HMS Dauntless was launched in January 2007 and adopted by the city after HMS Newcastle was decommissioned in 2004.
