CREW Calls for Gov. Blagojevich's Resignation.WASHINGTON -- Given the charges outlined against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich in the criminal complaint made public today, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) is an American government watchdog organization founded in 2003. One of their most visible projects is a biannual list of Washington politicians they label as the "most corrupt. ("CREW") calls on the governor to resign. CREW executive director Melanie Sloan stated, "Gov. Blagojevich apparently has long been selling his power and authority to the highest bidder HIGHEST BIDDER, contracts. He who, at an auction, offers the greatest price for the property sold. 2. The highest bidder is entitled to have the article sold at his bid, provided there has been no unfairness on his part. . Clearly, given the circumstances, the governor should have no role in filling the seat, yet while he remains in office, the decision is his to make. In fact, given the wide scope of his alleged misconduct, his remaining in office makes a mockery of the Illinois government. If he won't resign, the Illinois legislature should begin impeachment impeachment, formal accusation issued by a legislature against a public official charged with crime or other serious misconduct.
