The Celts defense, which has limited its three opponents to nine points this season, held Lancaster (1-2) to 62 yards on the ground.

Brian Bilek said. ``We have faith we can contain him to the inside and his speed won't be a factor.''

With the victory, Crespi is off to a 3-0 start for the first time since 1992. Lancaster, playing at the varsity level for the first time, is 1-2.

Friday night's triumph was the Celts' second consecutive victory against a larger and more physical Golden League opponent.

However, Crespi, which defeated Quartz quartz, one of the commonest of all rock-forming minerals and one of the most important constituents of the earth's crust. Chemically, it is silicon dioxide, SiO2.  Hill the previous week, has yet to face a running back with the speed of Fargas.

``We've been thinking about this game all year,'' Crespi coach Tim Lins said. ``It will be the game of the century. We've been building up slowly and now we're ready.''

The newly instituted wing-T offense seems to be taking form as well.

With Tibbetts leading the way behind the blocking of David Zimmerman, Kevin Carden and Roger Mendez, the Celts rolled up 302 yards after entering the game with a 186.5 average.

``We're getting accustomed to the wing-T,'' Tibbetts said. ``A lot of people said we don't have a running game. Our enthusiasm has picked up and the blocking was great.''

Crespi took a 7-0 lead on a 25-yard run by Kropach with 4:12 left before halftime. Kropach found an open hole up the middle after bouncing off three Lancaster defenders at the line of scrimmage line of scrimmage

The Celts increased their lead to 14-0 on their first possession of the second half on a 4-yard run by Kropach with 7:48 remaining in the third quarter.

Tibbetts highlighted the eight-play, 72-yard drive with a 35-yard run and carried four times for 57 yards.

A fumble recovery by Crespi linebacker Mike Sharp at the Celts 36-yard line early in the fourth quarter stopped Lancaster's only serious scoring threat.

Henderson, completed only 3 of 16 passes for 43 yards, 28 coming on a fourth-quarter completion to Mike Brown. Daniel Pagnella led the Eagles with 33 yards in eight carries.

``They're not big but they have a lot of speed,'' Pagnella said about the Crespi defense. ``They fill the holes fast and stick it to you.''

Consecutive sacks of Lancaster quarterback Vernon Smith by Crespi's Joe Lack and Joel Garcia helped set up Kropach's first score, giving the Celts possession at the Eagles' 49.

Tibbetts carried three times for 21 yards on the five-play drive with Scott Boggs adding the extra point for the lone first-half score.

Crespi drove to the Lancaster 5-yard line on its next possession with less than a minute to play in the first half. The Celts, though, came up short.
