CRESPI'S OFFENSE COMES ALIVE IN VICTORY.

For the first three quarters of Monday night's 78-69 victory over Granada Hills High, Crespi boys' basketball coach Dick Dornan got exactly what he was looking for - a more consistent offense.

, who came into the opening round of the Westlake Hoops Classic with a disappointing 5-4 record, outscored the Highlanders 65-43 through three quarters.

But Granada Hills came back in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Celts 25-14 and closing to within nine points with just over a minute to go in the game.

``We showed a lack of discipline in the fourth quarter,'' Dornan said. ``We almost gave it to them at the end.''

The Celts held on as junior guard Andrew Moore converted two clutch free throws to end the Highlanders' rally with one minute left. Moore finished with 22 points, four assists and three steals to lead the Celts.

Lynwood 81, Chatsworth 77: Shayne Berry scored 37 points for the Chancellors in an opening-round game but it wasn't enough as Lynwood staged a dramatic fourth-quarter comeback.

Kenyon Kensie scored 32 points for the Knights and David Colbert converted two free throws with nine seconds to play.

Westlake 69, Birmingham 66: The Warriors pulled away from Birmingham with a 19-point third quarter and improved to 8-3. Tyler Adamczyk scored 22 points and pulled down eight rebounds; point guard Adam Mazarei had six points and five assists for Westlake.

Mshak Ghazatian scored 23 points for the Braves.

Hueneme 65, Burroughs 61: Erik Watkins scored seven of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter as Hueneme pulled away from Burroughs with a 27-point fourth quarter.

Justin Ambos ambo /am·bo/ (am´bo) ambon. scored 16 points and Tyler Newton scored 17 but Burroughs couldn't hold on to a 48-39 third-quarter lead.

In the Chaminade tournament:

Moorpark 82, Kennedy 58: Todd Tomlinson scored 35 points to lead Moorpark. Tomlinson's torrid first-half shooting included four 3-pointers and 20 points as the Musketeers (8-1) built a 19-point halftime lead.

Kennedy countered with Dax Grooms and James Norris. Grooms scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Quartz Hill 66, ECR 54: Mychael Williams' 17 points led a balanced scoring attack for the Rebels. Grant Drake dropped in 14, Kevin Johnson scored 12 and Tony Johnson added seven points and seven rebounds for Quartz Hill.

Justin Saad-Anthony led all scorers with 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Conquistadores.

Campbell Hall 91, Van Nuys 33: Jesse Foster finished with a game-high 31 points and 10 rebounds as the Vikings coasted to victory.

Chaminade 69, Grant 59: Chaminade (5-4) was led by Scott Borchard who scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Tito Hill scored 13 points and seven assists

In the Morey Elmore Classic:

Taft 86, Lincoln 49: Collins Ezeuka had 23 points to lead the Toreadors (7-1) to their seventh consecutive victory in the Morey Elmore Classic at Eagle Rock High. Greg Guenther, a 6 foot 9 senior had 11 rebounds and seven blocks for Taft.

Ronald Gray and Steve Smith scored 14 points and James Smith added 13 for Taft which will play Roosevelt in a Championship bracket game at 8 tonight.

Venice 61, Eagle Rock 59: The Eagles closed to 60-59 with five seconds left after trailing by as many as 12 points in the third quarter. However, Eagle Rock (3-8) was unable to launch a game-winning shot after regaining possession with three seconds.

Roosevelt 68, Poly 59: Poly (4-7) trimmed a seven-point fourth-quarter deficit to 61-59 on a 3-point basket by Sef Vargas with 54 seconds left. Roosvelt (7-4) scored the next eight points. Vargas finished with 20 points and six 3-point baskets, including four in the fourth quarter.

Gardena 73, Antelope Valley 45: Danny White scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half for Antelope Valley, which fell behind by as many as 25 points in the first half.

In boys' soccer:

Royal-ty: Randy Wilson scored the lone goal for Royal in game one against Claremont, helping the Highlanders of Simi Valley win 1-0 at the Upland tournament. Robert Snodgrass had 11 saves for Royal.

The Highlanders won game two, beating Palm Desert 3-1. Bryan Brooks, Evan Kay and David Duncan scored a goal apiece for the Highlanders (12-3-2), and Rafael Calderon recorded eight saves.

Royal coach Kevin Corely clinched his 300th career victory.
