CRESCENTA VALLEY STRUGGLES IN WIN OVER LA CANADA : C.V. 21, LA CANADA 7.Byline: Dave Shelburne Staff Writer Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. But they played well enough - thanks to big plays by Scott Vossmeyer, Wes Jones, Steve Carballo and Jason Hogan hogan Dwelling of the Navajo Indians of Arizona and New Mexico. Jones rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns and Vossmeyer completed 13 of 26 passes for 205 yards. Carballo turned in the catch of the game - a leaping 31-yard reception to set up his team's second TD in final seconds of the first half - two plays after Hogan had intercepted a tipped pass at the La Canada 40. It was enough to offset three turnovers and penalties that cancelled two touchdowns, including an apparent 65-yard punt-return score by Jones. ``We're supposed to be a good football team and good football teams sometimes don't play well and find ways to win - we did that tonight,'' said Crescenta Valley coach Alan Eberhart. La Canada (1-3) got a game-high 126-yard rushing effort from Chet Johnson-Blasucci, who scored his team's only touchdown on a 1-yard double-reverse that epitomized the trouble Crescenta Valley had locating the football in the Spartans' wing-T attack. Earlier, Johnson-Blasucci had bolted 56 yards on the game's longest play on another misdirection MISDIRECTION, practice. An error made by a judge in charging the jury in a special case. 2. It wasn't enough to secure a win against the favored Falcons, but the effort by the Spartans left La Canada coach Rich Wheeler happy. ``We don't look at this as a loss,'' Wheeler said. ``We played a tough team tough.''
