SUPERCLUB Cream will close in Liverpool after celebrating its 10th birthday, it was confirmed today.

It revealed last month that it was to end its decade-long presence in the city.

Today, the club said the final nights for Cream at Nation will be the 10th birthday celebrations on October 11 and 12.

The announcement came after a 30-day review by the company of its nightclub operation.

The Cream group said it made the decision after ``reevaluating where we are as a company''.

Its regular Saturday night events had already been cancelled in July, although the Creamfields festival over August bank holiday weekend was unaffected.

In a statement, Cream's chief executive James Barton BARTON, old English law. The demesne land of a manor; a farm distinct from the mansion.  said: ``Young people want so much more from the Cream experience. This is evident from the massive success of Creamfields over the last five years, popularity of Ibiza 2002 and success of the Cream x 10arena tour.''

The move is further confirmation of the decline in the socalled superclubs.

The 10th birthday celebrations next month now take on extra significance.
