It has a very long tannin tannin, tannic acid, or gallotannic acid, astringent vegetable product found in a wide variety of plants. Sources include the bark of oak, hemlock, chestnut, and mangrove; the leaves of certain sumacs; and plant galls. with a lot of rich, forward fruit flavors and just a bit of leather earthy flavors and aromas. It's a very drinkable wine with good acidity and is very crisp. This is an easy-drinking holiday wine, a perfect red sauce red sauce Nutrition Any low-fat, low-calorie tomato-based sauce. Cf White sauce. wine that would also would go well with roast chicken and other simple dishes. >WHITE OF THE WEEK Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon Chardonnay, Burgundy, 2006 (17.99) This is an outstanding chardonnay, very clean with fresh aromas. It presents a bright entrance as it comes in and finishes off soft and round. It would pair well with a wide range of foods, from grilled salmon to herbed herbed adj. Flavored with herbs: herbed vinaigrette. chicken and a variety of roasted meats as well. >WHITE WINE OF THE WEEK Frei Brothers Chardonnay, 2006 ($14) Another Sonoma County offering, this chardonnay showcases a great balance of citrus, pear and green apple. While well-balanced, it provides a lively acid throughout the finish. It has just a hint of buttery flavor and a limited amount of oak. This would go well with salads and any kind of creamy sauce dishes. It also would be excellent with calamari or salmon. It's a dry wine but is very floral, with some violet and a little bit of spice and black pepper black pepper or pepper Perennial, woody climbing vine (Piper nigrum) of the family Piperaceae, native to India; also, the hotly pungent spice made from its berries. . It would be amazing with truffles but also would serve well with pasta or fish. >WHITE OF THE WEEK Regaleali Bianco, 2005 ($27) This is definitely a dry wine with a hint of apple and peach and it's a bit floral. From the island of Sicily, it would go well with any fish, but would be superb with swordfish swordfish, large food and game fish, Xiphias gladius, of the warmer Atlantic and Pacific waters, related to the sailfish. It is named for its sharp, broad, elongated upper jaw, which it uses to flail and pierce its prey of smaller fish, rising beneath a school . The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland. , 2005 ($14.99) This clean and pretty import from the Tasmania area of New Zealand offers a wonderfully straight-forward, well-balanced fruity flavor. Matches with many foods better than most pinot noirs. The good acidity means it pairs well with red or white meat, especially ham, chicken, or turkey. Because it's not an overly heavy wine, it would also pair well with sandwiches. >WHITE OF THE WEEK Daniel Schuster Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand, 2006 ($18) This crisp, clean white wine comes from the Marlborough region of New Zealand and has a great light fruity taste, great acidity, and is a touch lemony. While it would pair well with appetizers before that big holiday meal, it is exceptional with any salad. It would also go nicely with fish, chicken, or all by itself.
