>RED OF THE WEEK

Paracombe, The Reuben Red Blend, 2001 ($15.99)

From the Adelaide Hills The Adelaide Hills are part of the Mount Lofty Ranges, east of the city of Adelaide in the state of South Australia. It is unofficially centred around the largest town in the area, Mount Barker, which has a population of around nine and a half thousand people and which is also one  in Australia comes a delicious blend of cabernet sauvignon Cab·er·net Sauvignon

2. A dry red wine made from this grape.

[French.
, merlot, shiraz, malbec and cabernet franc Cabernet Franc is one of the major varieties of red wine grape in Bordeaux. It is mostly grown for blending with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in the Bordeaux style, but is also vinified alone, particularly in Chinon in the Loire. . The winemaking team of husband and wife Paul and Kathy Drogemuller has created an elegant medium-bodied wine that shows how much restraint Australia is capable of. The body is medium with a long silky finish. While Aussie wine is mostly known for being a big winner at barbecues, this wine is so soft and silky it would pair really well with roast pork with glazed cherries.

>WHITE OF THE WEEK

Rosenblum Kathy's Cuvee Cuvée (or Cuvee on some English language labels) is a French term used on wine labels to denote wine of a specific blend or batch. The word originates from the French word cuve meaning "vat".  Viognier, 2006 ($14.99)

While Kent Rosenblum is mostly known for his big, rich zinfandels, often his whites get overlooked. That's a shame, because the Kathy's Cuvee viognier is a winner. Sourced from two vineyards, it has aromas of peach and citrus with a backbone of vanilla. The taste is an explosion of vanilla, oak, kiwi and peach with a long creamy finish. The viognier grape is not known for being too acidic, so don't pair this with anything too zingy zing·y
adj. zing·i·er, zing·i·est Informal

Chateau la Camargue, Viognier

Vin de Pays French legislation on the terminology Vin de pays passed in 1979, allowing producers to distinguish higher quality wines that were not made with AOC classified grapes. The wines have to come from a specific named place, the producers have to submit the wine for analysis and  de Vaucluse, France, 2005 ($15)

This viognier delivers deliciously silky apricots on the palate and is accompanied by a lovely citrus and fruit character. Structured with a fantastic long finish, this would do well with a salad nicoise served with fresh grilled ahi tuna.
