CRASH ON 14 FREEWAY SNARLS TRAFFIC FOR HOURS.

 Officer Richard Perez. ``That rear-ended an auto, which caused a chain reaction.''

Traffic in the southbound freeway lanes slowed to five miles an hour and came to a halt entirely several times as CHP officials and tow trucks worked to clear the wreckage.

``It was a terrible sight,'' CHP Officer Steve Tabor said. ``We got numerous calls from people wanting to know if their spouses and co-workers had been involved in the crash. I'm sure a lot of people were late.''

Traffic was tied up for more than five hours, officials said.

Officials said one person reported a minor complaint of pain, but did not require hospitalization. One vehicle involved in the crash left the scene before the CHP arrived, officers said.
