The woman was identified as Doria Wilkes of 3101 Old Pecos Trail. She died at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center shortly after the 11 a.m. crash, said Santa Fe Police Lt. Dale Lettenberger.

He said the 54-year-old driver of the Toyota truck, Clifton Doran, of 147 Calle Ojo Feliz, complained of chest pain, apparently from the deployed air bag, but was expected to recover. He remained at the medical center late Friday afternoon, Lettenberger said. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Lettenberger said it appeared that Wilkes, driving a white Lexus SUV, was attempting to turn left into the southbound south·bound

pickup slammed into the driver's side door of the SUV. The accident occurred in the northbound lane, Lettenberger said.

The accident was still under investigation Friday afternoon. Alcohol did not appear to be a contributing factor, Lettenberger said.

He said that construction equipment in the area may have obscured the drivers' vision.
