 who witnessed the 10:06 a.m. crash. The paramedic had spotted Gamayo's red Ford Probe weaving across the northbound traffic lanes before the collision, Hill said.

"The traffic was actually staying behind him because he was all over the place," Hill said.

Gamayo hit a Honda Accord driven by Mary Katherine Douglas, 35, of Palmdale, as she exited the northbound freeway at Hasley Canyon Road, Hill said. Both cars rolled down a 30- to 40-foot embankment.

Douglas and Gamayo were hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries, and later released. Gamayo was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  sheriff's station with bails set at $163,000, officials said.
