CRAIG A. SMITH NAMED EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF INTRENET SUBSIDIARY; FORMER NORTH AMERICAN VAN LINES VP JOINS ADVANCED DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS

 EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Intrenet, Inc. (NASDAQ: INET) announced today the appointment of Craig A. Smith to executive vice president of Advanced Distribution Systems, Inc. (ADS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Intrenet, Inc. effective Aug. 9. Mr. Smith comes to ADS after nearly 10 years with North American Van Lines (NAVL), most recently as vice president of operations planning for its commercial transport division. In his new role, he will be responsible for the strategic operations, as well as implementation of the company's marketing programs.
 Mr. Smith, 39, comes to Advanced Distribution Systems, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, with 17 years experience in the transportation industry, including 10 years with North American Van Lines and seven years with Airborne Freight Corporation. Prior to this appointment with ADS, Mr. Smith was responsible for engineering and implementing the team structure to streamline load assignments and improve the customer service function for the $200 million a year in sales, 1,600 tractor operations at North American Van Lines.
 Advanced Distribution Systems, Inc. is an irregular truckload carrier that transports steel, building products and general commodity freight, throughout service lanes in the Southeast, Midwest and Central States on flatbed trailers. Advanced Distribution Systems operates a total fleet of 420 tractors that are primarily owner-operated.
 Mr. Smith is the third upper management appointee named by Intrenet and its subsidiaries this month: the others being appointments being James V. Davis, former chief operating officer of Mitsui O.S.K. (America), Inc., to the executive vice president of Intrenet, Inc. and Robert E. Johnson, formerly executive vice president with MNX, Inc., to president of Roadrunner Distribution Services, Inc.
 Intrenet, Inc., trades under the symbol INET and is a listed issue on the NASDAQ Small Cap Market(R). The company is a holding company, presently headquartered in East Brunswick, for five wholly owned truckload carrier subsidiaries: Roadrunner Trucking, Inc., Roadrunner Distribution Services, Inc., Eck Miller Transportation Corporation, Advanced Distribution Systems, Inc. and C.I. Whitten Transfer Company, Inc. In 1992, Intrenet, Inc., which employs 1,433 individuals, had revenues of $174 million.
