CRA wins a victory in battle to regulate new billboard signs. (Up Front).

City efforts to clean up the skyline received a boost when a 2nd Appellate District judge affirmed a lower court decision giving the Community Redevelopment Agency authority to reject certain billboard applications.

The ruling was another setback for Eller Media Co., which applied to the city in 1999 to place billboards on Cahuenga Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard Sunset Boulevard is a street in the western part of Los Angeles County, California, that stretches from Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles to the Pacific Coast Highway at the Pacific Ocean in the Pacific Palisades. .

The application was referred to the CRA See Community Reinvestment Act. , which asked Eller Media to conduct a supplemental environmental impact report for the billboard at 6601-6613 Sunset Blvd Sunset BLVD is unreleased material and remixes by the rapper 2Pac. In the past six months, plans have been floated to make room for so-called "tall walls," large signage on the sides of tall buildings, instead of the more common billboards on posts.

After its rejection, Eller Media sued the CRA in L.A. Superior Court seeking a ruling that its application complied with Hollywood's redevelopment plan. The trial court denied the request.

Richard Hamlin, an L.A. attorney who represents Eller Media, declined to say whether the company would appeal.
