CRA collecting for SDC.


Ottawa -- Canada Revenue Agency The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) administers:
  • tax laws for the Government of Canada and for most provinces and territories;
  • international trade legislation; and
  • various social and economic benefit and incentive programs delivered through the tax system.
 is now responsible for the collection activities previously carried out by Social Development Canada The Department of Social Development, also referred to as Social Development Canada, was from Dec. 2003 to Feb. 2006 the department of the government of Canada with responsibility for developing and implementing social policies involving families with children, disabled .

The CRA See Community Reinvestment Act.  now has responsibility and accountability for the collection of debts owed to programs of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada and SDC, including debts incurred through Canada Student Loans, Employment Insurance, Employment Programs, Canada Pension Plan The Canada Pension Plan (CPP) is a contributory, earnings-related social insurance program. It forms one of the two major components of Canada's public retirement income system, the other component being Old Age Security (OAS).  and Old Age Security.

Service to clients will remain unchanged. Clients will be able to continue to use all existing ways to contact collections agents, such as via published telephone and fax numbers, and currently available Web sites.
