CUMMING, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 5, 1999--

CQ Computer Communications, Inc. announced today that its Windows(R) 32-bit host connectivity solutions are compliant with the Windows 2000(R) operating system operating system (OS)

CQ's PC-to-host solutions include CQ-3770(R) Windows, CQ-3780(R) Windows, and CQ-3270(R) Windows. These fully-featured IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) (R) emulation products communicate over dial-up lines through the unique AutoSync(tm) 2 feature available in Hayes(tm) modems now manufactured by Boston-based Zoom(R) Telephonics, Inc. Hayes modems with the AutoSync 2 feature include the OPTIMA(tm) 336 External, OPTIMA 56K External, OPTIMA 336 PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association, San Jose, CA, www.pcmcia.org) An international standards body and trade association that was founded in 1989 to establish a standard for connecting peripherals to portable computers. PCMCIA created the PC Card. See PC Card. , and OPTIMA 56K Internal.

CQ's AutoSync 2 solutions are different from other host communications solutions in that CQ's products provide synchronous connectivity to IBM mainframes and hosts without the need to install a costly ($500 or more) internal synchronous adapter card at the PC end. With external or PCMCIA versions of Hayes OPTIMA modems, users can easily connect remote PCs and notebooks to host mainframes without the expense of cumbersome SDLC (Synchronous Data Link Control) The primary data link protocol used in IBM's SNA networks.  or Bisync adapter cards. CQ/AutoSync 2 solutions save users up to 35% when compared to adapter card based solutions. Also, CQ's software solutions and OPTIMA PCMCIA modems offer the only way for remote notebook PCs to communicate synchronously with host sites.

All of CQ's solutions are Y2K compliant and are fully compatible with Microsoft's 32-bit Windows operating systems, including Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, and the new Windows 2000.

"CQ has developed a full line of software solutions that can now function in the Windows 2000 operating system," said John B. Thomas, CQ's President. "These solutions save our customers the expense and hassle of internal synchronous adapter cards by implementing support for the Hayes AutoSync 2 technology. CQ's AutoSync 2 solutions are economical, easy to install, and even easier to use with the new Windows 2000 operating system."

"CQ software and the unique AutoSync capability of our Hayes OPTIMA products are a powerful combination," said Zoom President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization.
