CPS is the first choice for the liquid foods sector.

Decades of experience and expertise in the design and manufacture of top quality products aimed at the liquid processing industry has turned Carlisle Process Systems Ltd (CPS (1) (Characters Per Second) The measurement of the speed of a serial printer or the speed of a data transfer between hardware devices or over a communications channel. CPS is equivalent to bytes per second. ) into one of the leaders in its sector.

The Dorset-based company, which can trace its origins back to 1885, has long been a leading supplier to the UK cheese market of vats, blockformers, cheddaring machines and other related items. Following the decision a few years ago to split CPS into three distinct groups, it is the dairy, food and beverage F&B is a common abbreviation in the United States and Commonwealth countries, including Hong Kong. F&B is typically the widely accepted abbreviation for "Food and Beverage," which is the sector/industry that specializes in the conceptualization, the making of, and delivery of foods.  group that has diversified the most by establishing itself as a primary supplier to a number of very different liquid processing sectors. This has resulted in the dairy, food and beverage group building-up an impressive portfolio of customers, including household names History

These new customers have been obtained because of CPS's ability to take a project from its initial concept, through the process of design, installation, commissioning and operator training. Its team of highly skilled designers, engineers, and production staff then ensure every requirement the customer has is taken care of.

CPS managing director said: "We are there to ensure that each customer gets exactly what was ordered. Since we set up our separate dairy, food and beverage group, the challenge has been to couple our traditional skills with meeting the individual needs of customers.

"We know we can provide the complete service by starting with understanding the individual needs--and the problems--of each and every one of our clients and taking the project through every stage until it is up and running exactly to requirements." CPS can provide engineering, process knowledge, project management and manufacturing excellence. Its equipment can cope with a full range of liquid food items. Any kind of drink can be handled too and the beverage industry has been quick to pick CPS as a lead supplier. Recent contracts have included isotonic drinks, fruit juices, carbonated drinks, coffee and chocolate. Tango tango

Charles Todd added: "A key part of our dairy, food and beverage group products is the extensive range of mixing and blending vessels and associated equipment offered. This starts with vessels with a simple agitator ag·i·ta·tor

Equipment offered by the dairy, food and beverage group include pasteurisers, mixing and blending plants, plate heat exchangers The plate heat exchanger (PHE) was invented by Dr Richard Seligman in 1923 and revolutionised methods of indirect heating and cooling of fluids.

, separators, homogenisers along with associated storage tanks, process vessels and pipework systems. Much of the equipment is supplied skid-mounted, which enables CPS to assemble off-site to keep production disruption to a minimum, during installation. Rowse Honey Ltd, the UK's leading supplier of honey, has installed seven processing vessels from CPS. This deal occurred following a recommendation from one of Rowse Honey's suppliers and the firm was immediately impressed by the quality of the equipment and the competitive pricing

Scottish ice cream producers Mackie's Ltd's new production line was developed with the aid of CPS engineers who played a part in ensuring the amount of ice cream leaving the Aberdeenshire dairy more than trebled. "Professional and efficient" were two of the compliments attached to CPS's work by the company's managing director, Mac Mackie.

Levels of service and robustness of equipment were at the core of a similar story at Cott Beverages where the company also made a decision to put its trust in CPS. The company installed a CPS pasteuriser to handle a new range of milkshake mixtures. The new unit is among one of over 300 CPS pasteurisers operating daily across the food, beverage and dairy industries. Many of the items supplied are provided with Cleaning-in-place (CIP (1) (Common Isochronous Packet) The packet format used in time-based (real time) FireWire transmission. Demand for CPS's cottage cheesemaking equipment continues to increase thanks to the move towards healthier eating. The self-enclosed Damrow units sold by CPS protect production from airborne bacteria while reducing labour costs and production time.

Overall, CPS is extremely well-equipped to remain at the forefront in its field. "We have always strived to provide focused and innovative solutions to customers' needs," added Charles Todd
