CPMA Elects Rogers Chairman.

Thomas W. Rogers of Apollo Colors was elected chairman of the Color Pigments Manufacturers Association's (CPMA) Board of Governors during the association's annual meeting at The Greenbrier, WV.

Mr. Rogers said that the CPMA is an excellent organization, and is essential to the pigments industry.

"It is definitely an honor and a privilege to serve as chairman of the CPMA," Mr. Rogers said.

In particular, the focus of CPMA is on regulatory and legislative issues. "For 10 years, we've been working with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) concerning its proposed hazardous waste listing of waste streams produced by the manufacture of certain types of organic pigments," Mr. Rogers said. "The EPA's conclusions were based on inaccurate assumptions and information which we are attempting to correct."

In addition, Nabil Farkouh of Clariant was elected first vice chairman and Charles Hoover was elected second vice chairman. Phil Webb of BASF Corporation was re-elected to a three-year term on the board, and three new board members were also selected: James Kassner of Bayer Corporation, David Thompson of Sun Chemical Corporation and Russ Clevenger of Lawter International.

J. Lawrence Robinson was re-elected CPMA president, and he received special recognition for his 25 years as the chief operating executive of the association.
