CPFP earnings take big dive

Canadian Pacific Forest Products reported net earnings of $6.6 million, or 15 cents per share, for the second quarter of 1990.

That compares with $72.9 million, or $1.66 per share, for the same period in 1989.

Sales for the period were $650.6 million, compared with $741.8 million for the second quarter of 1989.

Net earnings for the first six months of 1990 were $11.4 million, or 26 cents per share.

That compares with $138 million, or $3.14 per share, for the same period in 1989.

Sales for the first six months of 1990 were $1,292.7 million, compared with $1,452.8 million in the first six months of 1989.

Weak markets were the rule in the first half, with the exception of tissue products.
