CPC INTERNATIONAL ACQUIRES GOLDEN WONDER POT NOODLE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM.


ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 5, 1995--CPC International Inc. today announced that it has acquired the Golden Wonder Pot Noodle In the UK & Ireland, Pot Noodle is a well-known brand of ramen-style snack. Its dehydrated mixture consists of wide noodles, textured soya pieces, assorted dried vegetables and flavouring powder. Each pot is also packaged with a sachet of sauce, such as soy sauce.  instant hot snacks business from Dalgety PLC, a leading United Kingdom-based food and agribusiness company, for approximately $280 million.

Golden Wonder snacks form a complete line of noodle, pasta, and rice based products in single-serve containers. The business has sales of approximately $100 million. The Golden Wonder Pot Noodle brand ranks among the top 50 grocery brands in the United Kingdom, and the instant hot snacks line holds a strong leading share of this dynamically growing market category.
