 BB:CPWW CPWW Center for Ports and Waterways (Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University at Galveston) ) Thursday announced the appointment of Robert E. Jones Robert E. Jones might refer to:
  • Robert E. Jones (Illinois), former mayor of Danville, Illinois, United States
  • Robert E. Jones (judge) (b. 1927), Oregon Supreme Court and federal district judge, United States
 as president, succeeding C. William Arrington.

In conjunction with the appointment, CPC also announced it has contracted with Enernomics Inc., an Atlanta-based management services company founded by Jones and specializing in energy project development and evaluation.

Company officials expressed strong confidence in Jones based on his years of executive experience in the energy field. Jones has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology Georgia Institute of Technology, in Atlanta, Ga.; coeducational; state supported; chartered 1885, opened 1888. It is a member school in the university system of Georgia. Significant among its facilities and programs are the Frank H.  and a master's degree from Georgia State University History
Georgia State University was founded in 1913 as the Georgia School of Technology's "School of Commerce." The school focused on what was called "the new science of business.
. While at Harvard Graduate School of Business, he completed the Program for Management Development. He served Georgia Power as a district manager in the Atlanta area while developing successful major marketing programs for that utility.

As president of Southern Development and Investment Group, a subsidiary of the Southern Company, Jones was responsible for new business development. Projects included opportunities in wireless, fiber optics fiber optics, transmission of digitized messages or information by light pulses along hair-thin glass fibers. Each fiber is surrounded by a cladding having a high index of refractance so that the light is internally reflected and travels the length of the fiber , billing services, alternate generation, biomass and other energy-related business lines. Jones has received numerous industry awards and has held leadership positions in EPRI EPRI Electric Power Research Institute
EPRI European Parliaments Research Initiatives
 and other industry associations.

Jones retains his position in Enernomics, which he founded following his career with regulated utilities. Enernomics, through its team of experienced senior consultants, has provided benchmark utility performance studies for numerous major corporations such as General Motors, Texaco, Procter & Gamble, and for more than 30 utilities.

These studies were designed to assist corporate management in marketing, operation strategy and cost-reduction programs related to energy utilization.

Immediate focus for Jones and his Enernomics team will be management of the Green Energy Project recently announced by Composite Power in conjunction with major strategic partners.
