CPA Group Offers Volunteers for Tax Season.

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 2004

The Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

An accountant who has met certain standards, including experience, age, and licensing, and passed exams in a particular state.
 has gathered a bank of local volunteers who can speak on recent changes to the tax code and how they affect taxpayers and small businesses. The CPAs also can provide information on the following subjects:

-- General tax filing questions (Home Office Deductions,

E-Filing)

-- Common mistakes

-- What type of tax professional one might need

-- Where to go for a referral

-- Filing an Extension

-- What should you be doing NOW to plan for next year

-- Financial planning Financial planning

Evaluating the investing and financing options available to a firm. Planning includes attempting to make optimal decisions, projecting the consequences of these decisions for the firm in the form of a financial plan, and then comparing future performance against
 advice

As always, the Society has resources and volunteers who can also speak on non-tax season topics including:

-- Fraud

-- Corporate Governance Corporate Governance

The relationship between all the stakeholders in a company. This includes the shareholders, directors, and management of a company, as defined by the corporate charter, bylaws, formal policy, and rule of law.
 

-- Business valuation information

-- Community Service

Volunteers are available for live "on camera" recordings or for interviews. All volunteers have an expert knowledge in the area of taxation. Volunteers with specific subject knowledge are available.
