LANCASTER - Motorists traveling through downtown Lancaster this morning will encounter an usual sight: a cattle drive.

Twenty steers herded by about 35 cowboys will amble amble

The drive starts in the Lancaster City Hall parking lot, runs east on Lancaster Boulevard, then north on Division Street to the fairgrounds.

The boulevard and side streets will be closed to other traffic in segments as the cattle and riders move along, sheriff's Sgt. Gus Risinger said.

``We expect it to be over by 11:30 a.m.,'' Risinger said.

Rodeo events started Friday evening and resume tonight at 7:30 p.m. Also going on today are a chili cook-off, with judging starting at 2:30 p.m., a horseshoe pitching contest, salsa competition and dance contest.

The dance contest preliminary round begins at 4 p.m., with the finals during a 10 p.m. county-western dance following the rodeo.

Miss Rodeo Lancaster will be crowned before the rodeo.
