COURT APPROVES U.S.-MEXICAN PARTNERSHIP TO ASSUME ASSETS OF DEFUNCT TAESA AIRLINES.In mid-October, a federal judge approved a motion granting a US-Mexican partnership the right to take over the defunct Transportes Aereos Ejecutivos (TAESA). The partnership, comprising Mexican businessman Leonardo Sanchez and Texas-based investor Marco Delgado Marco Delgado is a fictional mutant supervillain in the Marvel Comics Universe. He was created by Chris Claremont and debuted in X-Men vol. 2 #1 Fictional character biography Delgado was a member of the Acolytes that attempted to join Magneto aboard Asteroid M. , will operate the airline under the name Lineas Aereas Aztecas. TAESA was forced to suspend operations in November 1999 after authorities uncovered numerous safety violations (see SourceMex, 1999-12-01). The safety violations led unions in Mexico and the US to file a complaint against the airline under the North American Free Trade Agreement North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), accord establishing a free-trade zone in North America; it was signed in 1992 by Canada, Mexico, and the United States and took effect on Jan. 1, 1994. Former TAESA workers are demanding payment of all wages and benefits they would have received had the airline continued to operate.
