COURSES AIM TO STRENGTHEN FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS REGISTRATION BEING TAKEN FOR CITY-SPONSORED CLASSES.

The courses are Cooperative Parenting and Divorce; Love and Logic; A Teen Guide to Choosing Success, Choosing Life; Strengthening Stepfamilies; and Parenting Skills for Parents with Strong-Willed Adj. 1. strong-willed - having a determined will

Cooperative Parenting and Divorce will meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Classes begin Sept. 16. Cooperative Parenting and Divorce assists divorcing or divorced parents in reducing parental conflict and risk factors associated with the child's post-divorce adjustment. The program also benefits the divorced parents by offering information on rebuilding their lives as individuals, fostering sensitivity to their children's needs and focusing on child-rearing issues rather than past marital Pertaining to the relationship of Husband and Wife; having to do with marriage.

Love and Logic meets from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Sept. 24. The class offers an approach to discipline that places the adult in control while at the same time placing the child in a thinking mode. A Teen Guide to Choosing Success, Choosing Life classes meet on Wednesdays beginning Aug. 13. The initial classes will meet 6:30-9:30 p.m. and the last four classes meet 6:30-9 p.m. Teens will learn to analyze the choices they make, think about why they make those choices and learn tips and strategies to make their lives better and happier. Teens registered in this class must have parents registered in the adult class.

Parenting Skills for Parents with Strong-Willed or Out-of-Control Children is taught in conjunction with the Teen Guide to Choosing Success, Choosing Life class and meets Saturdays beginning Sept. 6. The first six classes meet 9 a.m. to noon, the last four classes meet 9-11:30 a.m.

It incorporates discussion and group involvement as parents work together to understand the realities of the step-family structure. The course also touches on strengthening the couple's relationship.
