COUPLE HURT IN FREEWAY PLUNGE.

An elderly couple were injured Wednesday afternoon when their car drifted off the Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length. It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley.  and down an 86-foot embankment, briefly forcing closure of lanes in both directions, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Mortin Greenburger, 76, and his wife, Annette, 83, of Lancaster were airlifted to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center Providence Holy Cross Medical Center is a hospital in Mission Hills, California, USA. The hospital has 254 beds, and is part of Providence Health & Services. History  in Mission Hills. The crash was reported shortly after 12:30 p.m. on the northbound Antelope Valley Freeway just south of Palmdale Boulevard.

After hitting the center divider, the Greenburgers' 1997 Toyota Camry overcorrected to the right, traveled across all lanes of the freeway over a curb and rolled several times down the embankment.

The car landed upside down, pinning the couple in their vehicle for several minutes before fire officials extricated them.

All northbound lanes of the freeway were closed for about an hour and the southbound lanes were closed for about 20 minutes.
