COUPLE HELD AFTER CHASE, STORE THEFT.

LANCASTER -- An ex-convict from Canoga Park and a Lancaster woman were identified as two people arrested on suspicion of leading sheriff's deputies on a chase after stealing a cell phone at a store.

The chase started Wednesday afternoon outside a Target store in the 43500 block of 10th Street West when the pair drove off at high speed as deputies approached them, officials said.

Deputies said a Target employee told them that the couple had just stolen a cell phone inside the store.

Deputies chased the fleeing vehicle to a mobile-home park, where the occupants abandoned the car and ran. Deputies surrounded the area and eventually apprehended Brunelle and Rossi. The vehicle had been stolen two days earlier, deputies said.
