Bush is the headliner when the Los Angeles County Fair The Los Angeles County Fair (also called simply the L.A. County Fair) is an annual event held in the Fairplex in Pomona, California, held every September. It is a carnival with rides, merchants, food vendors, cooking contests, and livestock. The 2007 L.A. opens today. The Republican presidential candidate will press the flesh at the 78th installment of the event, opening today at Fairplex in Pomona. Organizers say he's not the first politician to attend the event: Ronald Reagan, when he was running for California governor, and Shirley Temple are among the VIPs hosted at the fair. ``Obviously (Bush is) a political person,'' Fairplex spokeswoman Wendy Talarico said, ``but the way we're looking at it is, he's a high-profile person and he was invited. We invited both sides. We're very nonpartisan here.''
