The Board of Supervisors passed a resolution Tuesday to seek the money through the state's Habitat Conservation Fund Program. Officials want $350,000 for the wetlands project, but have not yet estimated how much they will need for the Pacific Crest Trail. ``The acquisition of the Antelope Valley wetlands maintains this vital area as perpetual open space,'' said Supervisor Michael D. The county also is looking to acquire 40 to 60 acres of private land that the Pacific Crest Trail crosses near Vasquez Rocks Park and the Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length. It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley. . To make new groupings of or working arrangements between. a three-mile stretch of the Pacific Crest Trail that runs along the shoulder of Agua Dulce Road. Because of heavy traffic, the segment is considered the most dangerous portion of the 2,638-mile trail. McKeon is seeking the funds at the request of the Pacific Crest Trail Association, a 2,600-member organization whose volunteers improve the trail and provide information for hikers. The Pacific Crest Trail runs from Mexico to Canada and was created by Congress in the National Trail Systems Act of 1968.
