COUNTY SUPERVISORS WANT BOAT FATALITIES REVIEWED.

The board also directed the Department of the Coroner to report back in a week on protocol needed to deal with the recovery of bodies when boats sink.

``The coroner is indicating that because of the depth of the boat they do not have the ability to retrieve the victims, and we're asking for a protocol that would ensure we have timely responses to future tragedies,'' Supervisor Michael D. ``We also want to ensure we are enforcing safety rules and regulations on our waterways. If there are violators of those rules and regulations, they have to be cited and held accountable.''

Divers and a remote-operated vehicle have been searching for the bodies of Steve Coulombe, Nelson Roy Brinkman and Chuck Wiseman and for the boat, which is believed to be in 246 feet of water, far too deep for divers on the county staff.
