ABBYY USA, Fremont, Calif., a leading provider of recognition, data capture and linguistic technologies, has announced Montgomery County, Md., has selected ABBYY's FlexiCapture technology as its solution of choice for streamlining the efficiency of forms processing in its accounts payable department.

"Previously, there was a lot of manpower wasted on time sheet scanning and proofing," said Mayland Lin, department of technology services at Montgomery County. "With the deployment of FlexiCapture, we've been able to cut down the number of people dedicated to this task by five, and complete corrections in just one morning rather than over the course of three days. Montgomery County, which processes more than 10,000 timesheets every other week, previously spent two days scanning documents and another three days reviewing them to correct errors in key pieces of data, such as employees' identification numbers. After implementing a pilot program with the ABBYY FlexiCapture technology, the company reduced the time it spent scanning time sheets to just four hours, and completely eliminated days of time spent manually correcting misread data from scanned files.

With the help of ABBYY solution provider American Heritage, Montgomery County integrated ABBYY's FlexiCapture solution into its existing document imaging system, eventually extending its use into the entire accounts payable department. Additionally, Montgomery County, which has more than 665,000 residents, now processes the Department of Liquors' invoices for the state-run stores.
