COUNTY SELECTS ABBYY'S FELEXCAPTURE FORMS PROCESSING.

ABBYY USA, Fremont, Calif., a leading provider of recognition, data capture and linguistic technologies, has announced Montgomery County Montgomery County may refer to:
  • Montgomery County, Alabama
  • Montgomery County, Arkansas
  • Montgomery County, Georgia
  • Montgomery County, Illinois
  • Montgomery County, Indiana
  • Montgomery County, Iowa
  • Montgomery County, Kansas
, Md., has selected ABBYY's FlexiCapture technology as its solution of choice for streamlining the efficiency of forms processing in its accounts payable department.

"Previously, there was a lot of manpower wasted on time sheet scanning and proofing," said Mayland Lin, department of technology services at Montgomery County. "With the deployment of FlexiCapture, we've been able to cut down the number of people dedicated to this task by five, and complete corrections in just one morning rather than over the course of three days. Our once time- intensive document management processes have been vastly improved and abbreviated."

Montgomery County, which processes more than 10,000 timesheets every other week, previously spent two days scanning documents and another three days reviewing them to correct errors in key pieces of data, such as employees' identification numbers. After implementing a pilot program with the ABBYY FlexiCapture technology, the company reduced the time it spent scanning time sheets to just four hours, and completely eliminated days of time spent manually correcting misread mis·read

With the help of ABBYY solution provider American Heritage American Heritage can refer to:
  • American Heritage (magazine)
  • American Heritage (band)
  • The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language
  • American Heritage Rivers
  • American Heritage School, a small private school in Broward County, Florida
, Montgomery County integrated ABBYY's FlexiCapture solution into its existing document imaging system, eventually extending its use into the entire accounts payable department. Additionally, Montgomery County, which has more than 665,000 residents, now processes the Department of Liquors' invoices for the state-run stores.

"In accounting applications particularly, the accuracy and speed of forms scanning is imperative," said Dean Tang, president/CEO of ABBYY USA. "ABBYY FlexiCapture technology intelligently automates data extraction Data extraction is the act or process of retrieving (binary) data out of (usually unstructured or badly structured) data sources for further data processing or data storage (data migration).  from any type of paper form or document without the need for manual pre-sorting or manual keying, dramatically improving scanning precision and efficiency. Accounting departments, indeed most any organization, can benefit from document recognition technologies that automate and streamline workflows and free up people for other critical tasks."

ABBYY FlexiCapture 8.0 is an easy to implement solution that delivers execution of a full range of data-capture capabilities from a single workstation, and provides an intuitive, customizable interface that guides operators through each processing step. After scanning or importing images from hot folders, FlexiCapture classifies the incoming mix of pages by document type. Then data is automatically located, extracted and validated using rules or database look-up. Extracted data is verified and then exported to external databases, files, or business applications and document management systems. Unstructured documents may be saved as searchable PDF/PDF-A files for archiving purposes.
