COUNTY Q&A: ALASTAIR BROWN.

Byline: ED HAWKINS

What are your side's strengths?

In the past it's been consistency and belief. We need to rediscover that because we've got good batsmen and bowlers. I think we've got the two best spinner in Ian Salisbury Ian David Kenneth Salisbury (born 21 January 1970 in Northampton) is an English cricketer, one of the few leg-spinners to play Test cricket for England in recent years.

Salisbury made his first-class debut for Sussex in 1989, taking the wicket of Ian Austin in both innings.
in Saqlain Mushtaq Saqlain Mushtaq (Urdu: ثقلین مشتاق) (born December 29, 1976 in Lahore, Punjab) is a Pakistani cricketer, an off spin bowler. , too.

And weaknesses?

Loads recently. Confidence has been a particular weakness. We haven't hit our straps yet but when we do we'll be challenging.

Which county side is underrated?

I'd have to say Ireland after they knocked us out of the C&G Trophy. People thought we underestimated them but they just outplayed us. With the rub of the green they might give Northants a good go in the next round.

Which county side is overrated?

We're overrated at the moment! Lancashire are rightful favourites for the title and I think only the weather can stop them.

Give us a tip

Lancashire to win the championship and one-day league. And because I'm a big greyhound fan, Droopys Oasis is a good each-way bet in the Derby.

What is your favourite ground to do well on?

Lord's. It's perfect.

If you had to pick a man to bat for your life who would you choose?

Mark Ramprakash Mark Ravin Ramprakash (born 5 September 1969) is an English cricketer. A right-handed batsman, he first made his name playing for Middlesex, and was selected for England aged 21. . He's done it for us and against us down the years.

Who is the coolest customer in your team?

Ian Salisbury. A flash dresser but his waistline is two inches bigger than mine!

Best dressing-room jape?

Martin Bicknell Martin Paul Bicknell (born 14 January 1969 in Guildford, Surrey) is a former English cricketer. He played only four Test matches, but the last two, against South Africa in 2003, came ten years after the first two in the 1993 Ashes series.  telling me that Leeds were a good football side. He ribs me about West Ham so it will be extra sweet if they go up.
